Flashlights should always be pointed at the ground. If a flashlight shines in someone’s eyes, they are temporarily blinded.
Flashlights should be turned off during Flag Ceremonies.
Flashlights are to be set on the floor of a latrine (bathroom), so they do not fall in the hole. No flashlights will be retrieved from the hole.
BIFFYs are the Bathrooms that we use at Girl Scout camps.
They also are known as latrines.
There is no flushing to save water.
The BIFFYs use sky lights, so it is good to have a flashlight with you, but make sure to set it down facing up to ensure you don't drop it.
Make sure to leave the lid down when you are done using the BIFFY to help reduce the smell.
All BIFFYs have outdoor sinks outside of them with clean running water and soap.
At Crowell, many of our BIFFYs have fun murals that other Girl Scouts have painted on the inside.
Fridays before flag the campers exchange SWAPS
SWAPS (Special Whatchamacallits Affectionately Pinned Somewhere) are small, handmade tokens of friendship.
Swaps should be made by the campers at home.
Many swaps are given with pins attached so the recipient can put them on her camp hat or bag.
You can attach a tag with Camp Firefly, the year, and the Camper's Unit Name, but not with the camper's name or personal information.
Swapping Etiquette: It is considered rude to refuse a swap with someone who asks and you should always remember to say thank you.
SWAPS that are meant for trading should be carried separately from those you wish to keep.
